Introducing ...

The following is an excerpt from the BBC1 show "Modern Blue" hosted by Jose Suarez. The interview conducted is with rising R&B artist, Gil Melon.

Jose Suarez: We're here with Gil Melon of the Music for Corrupt Individuals collective out in Pennsylvania. Welcome Gil.

Gil Melon: Thanks for having me.

Pleasure's all mine. So, I understand you got your big break with a chance meeting with Wine Thieves producer, Party.picasso.

Word. Yeah, I had this club poppin' in Allentown & dude strolled in. He heard my shit & was impressed so he bought me a few shots & we got to talking.

That must have been exciting.

It was tight, but shit started really going down when he hooked me up with Chuck Treble.

You met Treb?

Worked with dude. We linked up with Bobby Baghdad who pimped out some hot ass beats for a collabo joint.

You guys are releasing a record?

Fa'sho. S'called Latin Lovers. We still mixing that bitch, but we droppin' this hot ass single called "Butt Naked." Hot track.

When can we expect that?

It's gonna be a summer joint. So, July or so.

Nice, nice. Where will it be released?

It'll be dropped first on the Wine Thieves Tumblr. You'll be able to cop it for free for a while before we start chargin' that bitch. So, check for that shit so you don't miss your chance.

I definitely will.

Check back soon for the interview in it's entirety. And look out for "Butt Naked" coming soon @ www.thewinethieves.tumblr.com

I huff & I puff ...

So, Hype's passing the performance torch down to Lil' Hype Jr. He's playing Pig Numero Uno in "The Three Little Pigs." I remember living up by Hype's years ago & Jr. didn't even know what a pig was, now look at him. Crazy.

The weird thing is Hype's in the Garden State tonight for the first time in a long while & we can't even meet up due to conflicting schedules & all that. Spilled milk, wah wah. I hope he digs the digs (aka Quality Inn) up in Netcong cause there's nothing like a good hotel outing. Meanwhile, I'm fucking dying in the humid as shit Pennsylvania, although I'm pretty sure it's humid up there too.

On the plus side, I utilized this deathly heat to my advantage. I composed a beat earlier today that has all the smog & sweat that the tri-state can muster on a sticky summerish day. It's one of those bottom heavy beats with a hypnotic stagger to it. I can literally see the E-ed out chick konking out from dehydration on the floor while this shit knocks out the speakers. Definitely a water-bottle-joint. I hope Hype digs it as much as I do.

Speaking of o'Dermic, he's been churning out some lyrics for the new tracks this past week. Things seem to be running smoothly. We're both in agreement that this new music can't be fully approached as hip hop tracks. I don't mean that in the cocky way, I just think we have reached a point where we want to go a little beyond the norm. I'll never call it progressive hip hop, but some geek-ass-mafug in his mom's basement just might.

That's about it for now. Things are going good. And Hype & I have a session @ the Buzz Studios in about a week & a half, so expect pictures & all that shit.

Oh yeah, & Styles & Chuck got arrested for marijuana possesion in Danville. Fucking pigs ... and we're back to pigs, nice.

Peace,

Das Teeves

It's the Rapture, right?

I shouldn't be writing this. We shouldn't exist. Today was the Rapture & I'm still fucking typing. Damn. Half of me was secretly sitting in the corner of my mind with fingers crossed & eyes tightly shut, wishing away. But, I guess the other half wins. Too bad.

Enough of that. I sent Hype some beats last week for him to work on. He's been burning the midnight blunt wraps & penning some fresh new rhymes up in Wellsboro @ the world-famous Buzz studios. In the mean, I've been hard at work on some newbies to send him this week. Things are coming out kosh.

What else, what else? I'm kind of reaching here for some material. Not much going on in the Wilds/semi-Wilds this week. Album-wise a lot has been going on as far as working on new material, but not much to report. Hmm, let's see. Oh yeah, for the time being I've kind of bid adieu to the old record sample & traded it in for the brooding, bloodcurdling, hair-raising, gasp, synthesizer. Oh shit. Been enjoying it too. I feel like I have a lot more control over what I'm trying to make. Still working out some kinks but overall I'm loving it like McD's.

Fuck man, I don't know. Worst blog I have ever written (must be the Rapture, Jesus is fucking with my brain) but I felt inclined to update whoever, if anyone, reads this or stumbled upon it accidentally via odd Google search.

Alright, bye.
