Raw Tapes & Blunts

I went 23 whole days without smoking any cheeba. 6 days ago, that ended. The wait was horrendous, but well worth it. I've been getting ripped outta my mind these past couple of days. I've been loving it!

The time off has given me a lot of time to think. I've been writing a lot with Hype. We've been churning out a bunch of scripts for our TV show, and I've been penning a film currently titled "The April Kid". As much fun as these projects are, I really miss the Wine Thieves. I've been listening to so much hip hop lately: Madlib, Dilla, & Oh No mostly. It has me so inspired.

So, I've decided to really get down to beats. For real this time. For real, for real. And like always, I'm going raw. Mad raw. I'm basing all the samples from one source. I know that may sound odd, but I recently came across a rare compilation record & there are so many gems that it's pointless to dig elsewhere for one project. Like every beatmaker out there, I'll keep my source a secret, but I'm sure some of you crazy beat heads will recognize a thing or two.

I can't wait to get to work & see what Hype comes up with to spit over these beats.

More on my progress next week ...

Gone for a minute ...

To anyone who reads this ... sorry for the long ass hiatus. Hype & I have been smoking mad cigarettes & working on our writing ... literally. We're writing a sitcom. It's called "Earth Moon Earth". We're already on the script for our 5th episode (12 in total). But, we haven't forgotten about the Wine Thieves.

Hype & I decided to never again limit ourselves to just one single art form. That's why we're doing it all: music, TV, film, novels, photography, you fucking name it. And it's all going to be under the umbrella of Gadzooka Productions, our new production company. So expect new art from us in every sense of the word.

Musically, I'm gonna start working on some new beats. However, this time I'm gonna stop belly aching about my equipment. I have an MPC, a shitty version of Cool Edit, & I'm sure Hype will let me borrow his shitty Casio keyboard just to make shit real old school. And that's the point ... I wanna make some raw shit; fuck robots! I wanna make some dirty, damaged, dangerous, filthy fucked-up loops & bang some beats over them ... then let Hype spit some shit.

So, stick around.

Party.
